Impatiens pallida, also known as Pale Jewelweed, Pale Touch-Me-Not, or Yellow Jewelweed, is a flowering annual plant in the family Balsaminaceae, and is native to Canada and the United States. Jewelweed is an annual, meaning it lives for one year and comes back from the seeds the next year. The seeds grow in pods, which expand in size, building up pressure – until they explode when touched! This is why they are also called 'touch-me-nots'.

Yellow Jewelweed has pale yellow flowers, which distinguishes it from its close relative Spotted Touch-Me-Not (Impatiens capensis), which has bright orange flowers. It was used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes, chiefly as a topical salve. Touch-me-not is a plant many people have interest in because some say it is an antidote to Poison Ivy and Stinging Nettle. This Yellow Impatiens tends to tolerate drier soil than the orange Spotted Touch-Me-Not.

  • Full or part sun
  • Regular soil, nothing amended with fertilizers or manure of any kind
  • Can be planted directly outdoors in summer/fall, and they will grow naturally in the spring.
  • OR start seeds indoors; use a seed starting mix with 1/3 sand. Place the seeds just below the surface of the soil and water lightly. Place the container in the fridge for 90 days, and then put into warmth for them to germinate.
  • Make sure the soil remains slightly moist until germination; should germinate within 2 to 6 weeks at 75-85F. Some seeds sprout within 1 to 3 weeks, others take much longer.
  • Soil must be at 70-85F for reliable germination results.
  • Bloom time: July to October
  • Seed Count: 10

Promising start to new mystery series.
Format: Kindle
Lady Persephone "Poppy" Proudfoot attends a house party at an estate, meets some American actors, and tries to solve the murder of a stranger to the village whose body is discovered by the lake. The first in a series, this book is a quick read with a plot that moves along, although some of the large cast of characters seem superfluous (e.g., the American visitors). Poppy is a widow, a law-school graduate (in the 1920s!), and ran a hospital for wounded soldiers during WW1, so an interesting character to read about. A promising beginning to the series and I look forward to the next book. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the eARC.

amazing product, a little too pricey
it worked amazing while we were trying to swim in the ocean and snorkel in the ocean. The only downfall I have of this is the price is so much for such a little amount.
