About this photograph

Taken by Duffy during the last of the Five Sessions with David Bowie in 1980 in a costume designed by Natasha Korniloff. Bowie asked Korniloff to make him ‘The most beautiful clown in the circus.’ She described David as ‘Always a lot of fun to work with.’ David's New Romantic/Commedia dell'arte variant outfit was a throwback to his earliest costume experience, starring in Lindsay Kemp's Pierrot In Turquoise - a costume also designed by the late Natasha Kornilof.

By 1980 Duffy was winding down his photographic career. His studio was no longer filled with cameras, lights and famous faces of the era. It was replaced with tools for his new venture - antique furniture restoration. Without a studio or assistant, Duffy turned to his son Chris for a venue to shoot David Bowie, the only person who could persuade him to get back behind the lens. Bowie began to pose as the perfect pierrot, throughout the session distressing his look until he was reduced to a disheveled, smeared, smoking clown. Much like the Lodger shoot little over a year before, Bowie had employed Duffy as the photographer in collaboration with a graphic artist, a position filled this time by Edward Bell who Duffy had previously introduced to Bowie. After the shoot, Duffy took his chosen image to Edward Bell to add his graphic contribution. Fully expecting Edward Bell to paint directly onto his print, Duffy's image was almost completely obscured by Bell's painting. Although David loved the cover, Duffy was deeply hurt that his photograph had been despoiled by Bell.

Great reference book
Format: Paperback
I started reading this book and gave up after I realized I didn't have the programs that it called for. (The programs are very expensive!) However, I kept this on hand because I started to do more research on HTML codes and taught myself (with some guidence from this book) how to create my own webpages using simple design programs AND coding other sites soley with HTML codes! Decently priced and something good to have on hand when that one thing just doesn't make sense...

Awesome Book!!
Format: Kindle
I was a little skeptical about reading this book due to previous encounters with the Holy Spirit concerning Tim Ross. However, I believe GOD has given me clearance to read this book, and because of this book or shall I say the GOD given words in this book, Welcome to the Basement has been a comprised or a condensed yet straight to the point version of another book I was in the process of reading. It took the leg work out and made it into a simple and clear insight on how to practice the way of Jesus based on the life of Jesus and how to invite others to the table to eat with Jesus. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to slowly start back getting down into the basement. Thank You GOD and thank you, Tim Ross, for this book. It was a goldmine!! Peace, love, blessings, Erika.

You go up by going down…Welcome To The Basement!
Format: Hardcover
Tim Ross has taken the concept of The Basement and splashed them in black and white on the pages of this book! WTTB is a not only a guide but quite literally a masterclass on how to love the way Jesus loves. As a follower of Jesus for some time, I am impressed by Tim’s fresh perspectives, vivid writing style and conversational approach to this work. Welcome To The Basement simply feels like Tim on an extended episode of The Basement podcast. This page-turner of a book is a must read for all people who want to experience a radical approach to doing ministry in a postmodern world among people who question the validity of scripture and the relevance of Jesus and His Church. Become a “Basement dweller”!
