Ruby Rubber Tree Care Guide

With proper watering, sunlight, fertilization, and soil, you can keep your Ruby Ficus plant happy and healthy. Once you get the whole process down, it’s simply a once a week watering (or less), repotting every 2-3 years as it outgrows its container, and fertilizing annually for yearly growth, root development, and to provide the nutrients variegated rubber trees need to survive. We’ll explain more about this in the paragraphs below.

You can grow this pink plant outdoors in USDA hardiness zones 10-11, and any location outdoors for spring, summer, and fall. In colder locations, it will need to be moved indoors when temperatures drop below 50 F.

How to Water Rubber Plants

Pink rubber plants don’t like wet feet and having it in a pot with a drainage hole at the bottom of the pot is a must. Water the soil of the Ficus Ruby Rubber Plant when it feels dry to touch, usually about once every week or two. The worst thing you can do is provide excess water to your plant which can drown the root balls and cause root rot or yellow leaves. Don’t allow the soil to become bone dry, you want a consistent watering frequency.

Ruby Ficus Light Requirements

The Variegated Ficus Elastica does require bright, indirect light to keep the large leaves thriving. A south or east facing window is best to provide optimum sun exposure. Keep away from A/c vents or windows that may produce cold drafts and harm the plant. Direct sunlight can scorch or burn the leaves and is not advised. If you are not seeing adequate variegation on your plant’s leaves, then it should be moved into an area with brighter light conditions. The more sunlight it receives the more the variegation will come out. Another symptom of too little light may be that the plant is dropping leaves – adjust accordingly!

When to Repot Ficus Elastica

You may need to repot your baby rubber plant every so often when it becomes rootbound or needs a bigger pot. Only repot during the active growing seasons of spring or summer. Ficus elastica potting soil should be well draining and fertile with lots of nutrients to enhance the life of the indoor plant. Any indoor potting mix or succulent soil should work perfectly fine and you can always add extra perlite if you think it needs to drain more.

How Fast Does Ficus Elastica Grow

With perfect growing conditions, you can see growth rates of 1-2 feet per year. An annual application of fertilizer will help speed up this process by providing minerals and nutrients the plant needs to grow. Ficus elastica indoors plants will not grow as quickly without sunlight to help them grow.

PASSED MY INSPECTION! THIS PRODUCT WORKS LIKE A MIRACLE DONT HESITATE TO BUY IT!
Inspection on my car due the end of January! My check engine light was coming on so I checked with a code reader & found it was a P0420. Read about the Catalytic Converter System possibly being in need of replacement or perhaps clogged. I am a woman, and know next to ZERO about cars, but I can read. Did investigate and found that the replacement of a Catalytic Converter system is mad expensive- also found this Moly Cleaner to add to gas tank. I'm not going to lie; I was nervous as I have a Kia Rio 2014 that has a very small gas tank and gets great gas mileage. In reading the consensus seemed to be to add to 1/4 tank of gas and drive fast for good periods of time to blow out the clog (if it was a clog). Did I mention I live in NYC and driving for long periods of time at high speeds can be a problem because of terrible traffic. Anyhow, this Saturday I poured the can into my 1/2 filled tank and hit a parkway near my home early morning. I did drive for 45 miles sometimes at 80mph then 60mph but tried to do it for a good few minutes at a time without getting pulled over. Checked my reader again, and it was not quite ready but the engine light did stay off. Next day, drove to work, stuck in traffic somewhat & never made it over 20mph & checked my reader again- all good to go for inspection. Went last night- my car PASSED and got that sticker in my window- so I am good for another year. The BEST money I have spent all year. Thank you for carrying this product! Saved me thousands! DONT HESITATE TO USE THIS. The hardest part for me was removing the cap on the can!

Great stuff
Seemed to work as well as or better than some more expensive catalytic converter cleaners. I put it in while at 1/3 tank and my Check Engine light went out almost immediately once I started driving. My Tundra has almost 230,000 miles and still runs great but was getting a little harder to start after I switched from full synthetic oil to conventional. I’ll never do that again and immediately switched back but the damage was done. Check engine light came on and I had to crank longer to get it started. Adding this Liquid Moly fixed both issues temporarily. I have to wonder if this was used regularly, say every 3 months, if it would clean the catalytic converter more permanently?

Nice Filter Wrench for my Volvo V70XC!
Size: 86mm x 16
I was needing a filter wrench for my 2001 Volvo V70XC and couldn't find anything that fit from the local auto parts stores. Not knowing what to expect, I took a chance on this one since most of the reviews were 5 star and the price was exceptional. When I received it, I was quite pleased with the construction and finish. I have a brand new oil filter housing for my Volvo (since the one currently on my car is chewed up from the former owner using slip-jaw pliers or something on it) and the fit is perfect! I have worked as a mechanic my whole life (aircraft & automotive), and spent a couple of years as a technician at an automotive dealership and I can say that the tool looks like it is designed for heavy-duty use. The stamped steel housing is thicker than those found in local auto parts stores and the drive adapter has a thick arc welded bead along the inside of the tool. So, it appears to be made to hold up to some fairly heavy torque. Although the product description states that it is 1/2", the drive adapter is actually made for direct attachment to a 3/8" drive. Perhaps this error stems from the fact that they offer a much larger wrench (118-131mm) and this is a more accurate description of their other offerings. The 3/8" drive adapter works perfectly and a 21mm socket fits nicely on the external hex. Fits with SAE sizes are a mixed bag, though. I was able to attach a 13/16" 12-pt. box-end wrench, but not the opposing open-end. A similarly sized 13/16" 6-pt. socket was extremely tight, so I wouldn't recommend this size and would just go with the 21mm if you had to use the external hex. Otherwise, just use the 3/8" drive adapter for easiest use of this tool. The adapter also incorporates ball detents on all four sides of the internal 3/8" drive, so your ratchet or extension won't easily fall off while in use. Since this tool is made for oil filter removal & installation, I'm sure that it will deliver as promised. I'll post an update after my next oil change and I get a chance to use it and install the new filter housing I have.
