A Hosta hybrid, commonly called plantain lily or simply hosta, 'Blue Angel' is a hardy, shade-loving perennials suitable for Zones 3-9. Known for its large size and symmetrical, mounding habit, it grows quickly but takes several years to fully mature, returning each year larger and more vibrant. Mass plantings of 'Blue Angel' hostas create a stunning background, while drifts of hostas add movement and texture to garden designs. Applying slow-release fertilizer annually in spring ensures its lush, healthy appearance.
To plant 'Blue Angel' hosta roots, place them 1½ to 2 inches deep in spring, spacing them 36 to 48 inches apart for a full, thriving display.
