Bold, Brush-Stroked Variegation on an Easy, Fast-Growing Philodendron

The Philodendron ‘José Buono Fiesta’ is a collector’s gem known for its expressive, hand-painted variegation. Each leaf unfurls with creamy white and green sectors that seem to have been brushed on by nature. Broad, paddle-shaped foliage grows along a vigorous climbing vine that thrives indoors with bright, indirect light. Provide a moss pole or trellis, and this plant will quickly size up, producing ever larger and more dramatic leaves.

Why You’ll Love It

  • High-contrast, sectoral variegation—every leaf has its own unique pattern
  • Fast-growing climber that rewards vertical support with larger foliage
  • Surprisingly forgiving compared to many rare variegated aroids

Plant Profile

  • Botanical: Philodendron hybrid (‘José Buono’ selection)
  • Form: Climbing aroid—train on a moss pole or trellis
  • Foliage: Broad, paddle-like leaves with creamy-green brush-stroke variegation
  • Growth Rate: Moderate to fast in warm, bright conditions
  • Pet Safety: Not pet-safe (contains calcium oxalates)

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright, indirect light—soft morning sun is ideal; avoid harsh midday rays.
  • Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry; keep evenly moist, never soggy.
  • Humidity: Tolerates average home levels but thrives at 55–65%+ for larger leaves.
  • Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix (bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir).
  • Fertilizer: Apply a balanced liquid feed at ¼–½ strength during spring and summer.
  • Support: Use a moss pole or trellis to encourage upright growth and larger leaves.
  • Temperature: 65–85 °F (18–29 °C); protect from cold drafts below 60 °F.

What You’ll Receive

  • One Philodendron ‘José Buono Fiesta’ in a growers pot (size selected above)
  • Each specimen displays its own natural variegation pattern—no two are alike

Styling & Placement

Showcase your José Buono Fiesta on a bright shelf, plant stand, or floor planter with a climbing pole. Its bold foliage pairs beautifully with neutral ceramics, natural wood tones, and modern interiors, instantly adding tropical sophistication.

Pro Tips

  • Maintain bright light to preserve contrast; low light can dull variegation.
  • Rotate monthly for balanced growth and symmetrical leaves.
  • Wipe foliage gently to keep its glossy finish and maximize photosynthesis.

Note: Each plant is unique. Expect natural differences in leaf size and variegation coverage. Images are representative of the variety.

Quality research and intriguing storytelling
Format: Kindle
This is quite a story. While it requires some in depth explanation of technologies, the heart of the book focuses on cyber crime investigations, the business and economic impact of crypto currency and a slew of interesting personalities.

Really enjoyable read on following cryptocurrency and how it happened
Format: Hardcover
Andy Greenberg is a GREAT storyteller and podcaster. Anything he writes is a must read. Tracers in the Dark was a super enjoyable, easy read. He covers, using people and stories, the basics of bitcoin and the people who try to follow the money to catch cybercriminals. I knew most (but not all) of the people and stories he covered, but Greenberg added a ton of detail I didn't know. He added timelines and color that fleshed out what happened, in each story and the overall timeline. It's a great, easy, read and I'm a better cybersecurity defender for having read it. Although don't read it for any super technical details. You're not going to learn the details of blockchain, bitcoin, or blockchain analysis...only how it's done, generally, and the people involved.

Entertaining and frightening
Format: Hardcover
Incredible job taking these real life stories and situations and writing them in such a captivating way that really draws the reader in. As fascinating as the forensic aspect of the dark web activities and investigations are, there were some very disturbing and dark areas that the book justifiably went at some readers may find very uncomfortable so just be ready for that

An eye-opener for those that believe the dark web and cryptocurrency are anonymous
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
The author, Andy Greenberg, takes the reader through a series of actual whodunit cases where the blockchain is used to trace illicit transactions on the dark web. From corrupt FBI agents to drug sales on the Silk Road, culprits are rooted out by following cryptocurrency through the blockchain. Each case is different and often involves an international game of cat and mouse. In addition, the author discusses some of the ethical issues surrounding an anonymous currency. Most readers will find this book an easy and engaging read, even if they are not familiar with the blockchain.
