 Please find for sale 500+ (0.5g) of Lawsonia Inermis seeds, better known as Henna or Mehndi.

In its natural environment, Henna is a small desert shrub happy out in full sun. In the UK it is best grown as a large houseplant in a sunny spot - it can spend it summers happily outside ina sunny spot. It is the leaves that are ground up to make a paste that is used in Henna tattoos.

There is evidence that Henna has been used since Babylonian times, 2,000 to3,000 years ago. Henna is a symbol of joy in many religions, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism. Events based around weddings, births, circumcision and victories are often celebrated with mehndi.

Germination Guide

• Sow indoors in early spring for best results unless you have UV lights which enable all year round sowing
• Germination can be boosted by mixing the seeds with some damp vermiculite, putting the mix in a ziplock bag then place in the fridge for 10 days
• Prepare a pot or tray of moist sieved compost mix then spread the contents of the seed bag over the surface
• Gently tamp the surface down to ensure a good contact
• Cover the tray with a clear bag with a couple of air holes
• Keep in a warm place at 21-25c
• If you heating goes off at night, use a heat mat 
• Germination take 10-20 days depending on conditions
• When seedlings large enough, pinch out tops to encourage branching
• Pot on as required
• Need well draining soil and once established will enjoy the brightest sunny spot you have
• Can go outside for the summer
