Pachira aquatica

Native to areas of Central and South America, this tropical tree sports beautiful hand-shaped foliage and an easy-growing nature. It’s more tolerant to overwatering than many common houseplants. This makes it an excellent choice for plant parents who tend to overwater. In its native habitat it can reach more than 50 feet tall but stays much smaller indoors.

It’s become associated with good fortune due to a legend about a farmer who found some seeds, planted them, and made a business of selling the trees. Thus, the tree brought him good fortune.

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. If you’ve ever seen these things, the foldable ones are just as good as the standard ones. I just wish when you folded it up there was a way to lock it into that position. When you unfold it to play, you lock it into place with the orange locking slide so it doesn’t fold up on you. But when you’re done playing and fold it up, there’s no way to lock it into that position, it can keep unfolding if you carry it around with you, plus the orange locking slide keeps sliding up and down. It’s not a huge deal, but they could’ve made it better.
