After placing the root ball in the hole, backfill the hole with soil and press firmly to remove air pockets. Water the area thoroughly and mulch with a layer of compost. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Fertilize every two to three months using a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Prune away dead or damaged foliage as needed, and provide a support system for the vine as it grows.
