Looking to expand your collection with a low-maintenance plant? Look no further than the Molded Wax Agave - known as Echeveria agavoides or Echeveria agavoides lipstick plant! With its stemless succulent growth making a striking appearance with its leaves and its easy-to-care-for nature, this stunning plant is a must-have for any green thumb. Plus, with its beautiful vibrant colors, this plant is sure to turn heads and add drama to any space. Not only is it safe for humans, but it's also friendly to pets! So why wait?

Echeveria agavoides 'Lipstick', also known as Echeveria agavoides 'Red Edge', is an attractive succulent native to Mexico. It usually grows solitary or slowly produces offsets. This plant is perfect for those who are looking for something that is both fun and exciting.

Flowers are scarlet red to yellowish-rose with petals tipped light orange yellow. The red edges of the leaves contrast nicely with the green body, and the Scarlet red flowers are simply stunning. They appear on up to 10 inches tall inflorescences with two to five racemes on each slender peduncle in summer. These vibrant colors of the leaves and flowers are sure to add a pop of color to your space, while the offsetting growth habit means that it will slowly fill in any empty areas.

Whether you're looking for a solitary plant or something to fill in a larger succulent garden, Red Echeveria is a great option!

Watering Needs

Watering your Echeveria agavoides is important, especially during its first season in a new planting container. These succulents need deep irrigation to keep the soil moist, but not too wet. Make sure you check the soil before watering, as these plants do not like to be waterlogged or soggy.

Usually, watering once every two or three weeks is ample during the summer. In the winter, if it doesn't rain you still should only water your Echeveria less once a month. If the plant doesn't receive enough moisture for an extended period of time, discoloration, pale stems, and browning can occur leading to stunted growth. In contrast, overwatering can cause root rot and fungal infection.

Light Requirements

If you're looking to grow a healthy and thriving Echeveria 'lipstick succulents’ plant, you’ll need to provide it with plenty of bright, indirect light. Although partial shade in the afternoon is frequently preferable, it is still necessary for these plants to receive at least six hours of strong light each day.

Although Echeveria plants can withstand direct sunlight and the red color of their leaves develops with a lot of bright, direct light, but the intense scorching rays can cause the leaves to burn.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizers Needs

When it comes to choosing the right soil for your adorable Echeveria big red plant, it's important to be cautious. This is due to the fact that excessive soil moisture may be the primary factor in the early demise of the majority of succulents and cacti. Planet Desert specializes in succulents and has specialized succulent potting soil that includes an organic substrate with mycorrhizae to help with the growth of a healthy root system to help your succulents thrive. As an alternative, you can create your own potting mix by combining equal portions of perlite, coarse sand, and good natural potting soil.

When it comes to fertilizing your succulent plant, it only needs a small amount of fertilizer applied once a year in spring. Succulents prefer an organic or natural fertilizer with lower doses of NPK with a maximum ratio of 5-10-5 that is higher in phosphorus than nitrogen.

Hardiness Zones & More

Echeveria agavoides 'Lipstick' plants (Red Echeveria) are native to warm climates, so they prefer warm temperatures, ideally between 50 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. They're also quite sensitive to humidity, so they thrive in low to medium humidity (30-40%). Avoid putting your succulent plant in a humid area, such as next to a bathroom or kitchen, as this is a haven for mold, pests, and root rot.

Although echeverias can tolerate a little bit of a cooler environment, they should be kept away from draughts and cold windows. It's important to shield your plant from frost during the winter. This succulent can be grown outdoors in USDA Hardiness Zone 9 -12.

Dries completely clear, no pilling/balling, does have fragrance
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen, Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
I use a ton of sunscreen, religiously, and this one, at SPF 50, caught my eye. I never heard of this brand before or tried any of their products. While I am not a kid, I often like to use kids' sunscreen because I find it to be more gentle. This is a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide as the filter. Mineral sunscreens often leave a white cast but this one claims to dry completely clear - and I was curious to try this. Indeed, it dries completely clear! It absorbs amazingly and is a beautiful sunscreen for the face. It leaves a nice velvety glow when it dries - there is no oiliness and no shine. Even if you wear no makeup or products on top of it, you will look perfectly fine. I also tried layering it with multiple products, both under and over, and this sunscreen does not pill - which is another huge plus for me - as there is nothing worse than starting over when your sunscreen makes your face look like an odd mess. Overall, the performance of this sunscreen completely blew me away - this is one of the best sunscreens I've tried. A word of caution though - this sunscreen does have fragrance (and it is pretty heavily fragranced) so do keep this in mind if you are sensitive to fragrance in skincare.

50 SPF Aloe Up Suntan Lotion -- 3 ounce Tube -- Smells great! :-)
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen, Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
Sunscreen is super important because it allows you to stay in the rays of the sun. This tube of 50 SPF Aloe Up has been great so far! The tube, at 3 ounces, is a prefect size to keep in a toiletries bag. There was a seal under the cap and the tube has a small hole, which helps prevent unintended over-squeeze waste. The lotion is a bit thinner than I expected, but it rubs in smooth/invisible and smells great! I had no problem with breakouts or clogging of pores, and no burn under winter sun. With regard to winter sun, I rated this a 5 since so far this has worked great and there's been no problems...But... because we're under winter sun right now, I won't be able to test this under full strength sweaty summer sun for some time. I will come back and update this review if anything changes in the heat and stronger sun of summer. Hope this helps! :-)

Quality sunscreen with a light scent and no griminess!
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
Most sunscreens I have used in the past have a very distinct smell and/or leaves excess oiliness residue, so you can imagine I have my doubts when a manufacturer advertises its product have a clear and lightweight application with hydrating and comfortable feel on application. To my surprise, this product actually delivers on its claims! The consistency of the lotion itself is indeed very lightweight and easily works into the skin without being greasy as normally found with other brands. Despite its light application, I found that it still offers great protection after being exposed to moisture or coming in contact with water. A sunscreen with a relatively high SPF protection in a non-greasy, lightly scented and weighted application along with its accommodative formulary for sensitive skin is quite impressive; and about the only negative I can find is its high price for a 3 oz. tube relative to other brands. Overall, this is a good sunscreen at its list price, and one that I can recommend if you can find it at a discount.

Good for body, reapply often, use something else on face
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
We used this sunscreen at the Oregon coast on a cold but sunny February weekend and it had good sun protection. It’s non greasy and applies easily. No white cast when fully rubbed in and absorbed. My kids were able to use it without any irritations but I could not use it on my face, it irritated my skin immediately and I had to wash it off with facial cleanser and apply a sunscreen meant only for faces. I have sensitive skin and some rosacea, so this one I kept to only using on my arms and chest. One of my kids still got a sunburn on her cheeks after I applied this sunscreen, she had quite pale, sensitive skin, so again I would still recommend using something else on the face.

Clear but scented
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
We go through a lot of sunscreen during summer with little ones, so we’ve tried many brands. This bottle is pretty small, which is both a plus (compact for traveling and putting in your purse) and a minus. I was so pleasantly surprised that this mineral sunscreen doesn’t leave a heavy white cast, as most others do. But, it is fragranced, which is both surprising and disappointing to me for more natural kids’ sunscreen. I do think it is effective, so if you don’t mind having some fragrance, then I would recommend. Our family doesn’t love added fragrances so this isn’t a great fit for us.
