About - NZLA Meso (Commonly known as Tenacity™) herbicide can be used for pre and post-emergence control of more than 46 broadleaf weed and grass species. Its active ingredient, mesotrione, is based on a naturally occurring compound produced by the bottlebrush plant (Callistemon citrinus) that inhibits photosynthesis in susceptible plant species. It is absorbed by plants through the roots, shoots and leaves and distributed throughout the plant by both xylem and phloem translocation.

Meso is one of the few herbicides that controls weeds in cool season grasses during the seeding process and provides pre-emergence and some post-emergence control of many weeds.

Weeds controlled: Common Chickweed, Common Dandelion, Creeping Bentgrass, Crabgrass - Large, Smooth and Southern, Ground Ivy, Henbit, Clover, Lawn Burweed, Mouse-ear Chickweed, Oxalis, Speedwell – Persian, Purslane, Shepherd’s Purse, Sowthistle, and Wild Violet. Meso can also suppress Annual Poa.

Pre-emergent at seeding - When sowing 100% Perennial Rye lawns or 100% Tall Fescue lawn, Meso can be used as a pre-emergent at the time of seeding. This must be done before the seed begins to germinate. The product will not stop the new grass seed from germinating, but will prevent weeds from establishing. The application rate is 3.6 – 5.6ml in 3-5L of water for every 100m2. When applied as a pre-emergent follow up with 3mm of irrigation to get the product on the soil.

This product can also be tank mixed with NZLA Etho for ultimate pre-emergent control in Rye and Tall Fescue lawns. If introducing top dressing apply Meso/Etho over the top of the new layer of material.

Note: For post-emergent applications it's best to keep Meso and any Etho applications separate, particularly on Tall Fescue lawns.

It's not recommended to use NZLA Meso as a pre-emergent in Fine Fescue lawns, this is due to a reduction in density of Fine Fescue seedlings. If using a blend of turf species (which NZLA does not recommend due to the difficultly controlling grass weeds) as long as the blend is less than 20% Fine Fescue by weight Meso can be used as a pre-emergent.

Post-emergent application – Meso can be applied to Perennial Rye, Tall Fescue or Fine Fescue lawns at the rate of 3.6 – 5.6ml per 100m2 in 4-5L of water. Lawns need to have been mowed two to three times and be at least four weeks post-germination before Meso is used.

Application – To prevent overlapping during application, it’s a good idea use a lawn spray dye like NZLA Indicate in your spray tank. NZLA Indicate isn’t like other products on the market as our product breaks down with UV rays during the day. It’s also a very low application rate of 8ml per 1L of spray solution.

Keep pets and children off any treated areas until dry or ideally 24 hours.

Regulatory Information - NZLA Meso is a turf product, so is except from the ACVM Act. Do not apply on or around food crops, animal food crops, animal feed crops or areas to be grazed by animals. Approved pursuant to the HSNO Act 1996, Approval Code HSR002475 See www.epa.govt.nz for approval controls. Active Ingredient 480 g/L Mesotrione in the form of a suspension concentrate. Maximum application of two times a year (EPA regulation).

Interesting juxtapositions - some successes, some failures
Format: Paperback
As is to be expected from Anne Carson, the breadth of her knowledge results in thought-provoking writing even when it fails as "poetry". An example Hopper:Confessions begins with a quotation from Edward Hopper, followed with 9 separately title poems accompanied by quotations from Augustine's Confessions, and ending with a piece by Hopper. Her essay on female pollution in antiquity is excellent scholarship made enjoyable reading for the "common reading". Several pieces, or portions of pieces, consider Lazarus raising interesting issues from the perspective of Lazarus ... what is his reaction at being called forth (rotting?) from the grave? While many of the pieces, especially the very short pieces, are not impressive, the book is worth your time - for the reflections it provokes in the reader.

very droll
Format: Paperback
I understand the attraction to Anne Carson. I like experimental poetry, too. I like scholarship. But this book is pointless. The poems are so terrible that by the time I got to the essay at the end about hot & cold symbolism for the writers of antiquity I was so upset with the book that I just couldn't care about anything in it. These poems don't sound good. If nothing else, there should at least be the sound. & in any other respects, the experiments are to no end in themselves. I recommend forgetting this book & going for such progressive, ambitious younger poets as Karen Volkman & Brenda Shaughnessy.

seems like an unspecified struggle with herself
Format: Hardcover
I don't know. It'ts a struggle for her to come up with the next line. Doesn't feel especially creative, inspired, or notably intelligent. I read other disappointed reviews people had written about this book, & bought it anyway. I tend to have avant-garde sensibilities, so I thought I'd enjoy it for its avant-garde qualities. I really tried to appreiate the experimentality of it, but I couldn't, because I realised I was readin it more for the sake of reading, & because I enjoy reading, than because this book is any good. I know a lot of unskilled teenagers who write dada-influenced poetry that's much more interesting than this uninspired book; I don't see what makes Anne Carson so special. 1 star because it's not a good book. 1 more star, bringing the total to 2, because I feel bad just giving it 1 star. At least she wrote something...

A Slip-Up
Format: Paperback
I don't know what happened here but Carson's last two books have really gone down hill. Men in the Off Hours, her first book since Autobiography of Red, is a mess. I don't know how else to describe it. It's not that I'd expect an easy read after her last book--just a consistent one. There are poems in here that first appeared in prose elsewhere and now are in lines! This suggests a lack of understanding of the line and its history and uses on the part of the writer, which shocks me since Plainwater and Autobiography of Red I truly liked. I would not suggest this book if you like Anne Carson. It will disappoint you!
