Planting Tips:

1. Location: Prefers full sun with average, dry to medium, well-drained soils.
2. Watering: Watered plants are susceptible to root rot, so avoid overwatering. It tolerates a variety of soils and usually doesn't need supplemental summer water, but occasional watering (once a month) can produce more flowers.
3. Maintenance: Minimal care required. There's no need to deadhead the flowers, as allowing them to go to seed provides a valuable food source for birds. Leaving the stems standing in the fall offers overwintering sites for beneficial insects. If desired, cut back the stems in late spring after pollinators have emerged. This plant is easy to grow. It is fairly short-lived, lasting 5 to 10 years, but often self-seeds.
