Crassula capitella ssp thyrsiflora variegated also known as variegated pyramid plant, shows her best colours when kept well hydrated and grown in full sun for most of the year but should be protected from hot afternoon sun in summer to maintain well defined variegation. She looks especially beautiful during Autumn, winter and Spring like a proud new mum showing off her new baby pagodas which appear soon after flowering.

The new pagoda heads form quite quickly after cutting back the flower stems thereby redirecting the energy back into foliage growth producing many new pagodas. You can cut the flower stems back a little early  if you like. It won't harm the plant, but If you cut all of them back too early the plant will likely produce a second flowering.

The flowers are beautiful in themselves and this plant always has varying points of interest, but is more prized for the delicate neatly stacked pagoda heads in a lovely range of colours. Each plant having a striking uniqueness unlike many other species.

The new growth during the shorter days is a very light pink that darkens in colour to the deep pink shown in images. The green, pink and burgundy colours contrasting beautifully together.

Crassula capitella ssp thyrsiflora commonly known as red pagoda or pyramid plant, is a very small compact succulent that will trail over a pot when larger. It needs little room to grow and can handle long dry spells. The colour will intensify to a deep burgundy red especially over the summer when kept in full sun. It will be more green when watered and actively growing.

Don't overfeed, and give it plenty of light to keep its beautiful form and colour. Red Pagoda will give a profusion of delicate pink & white flowers on long stems generally in late summer/autumn (Vic). It is very beneficial to cut the flower stems right back, soon after flowering and you will be rewarded with lots of fresh new pagodas from mid autumn, through spring, to its next next flowering cycle.
