Dress it up with fancy material and an elegant sash, or keep it casual with informal fabrics and a skinny tie belt. Four bodice options can be combined with three different skirt and belt options for a variety of personalized choices. A brief tutorial on how to sew an attached lining with finished seams is also included. Depending on your choice, the skill level to make this dress can range from easy to intermediate. The decision is up to you! This PDF sewing pattern, by Forever 18 Inches, is designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended Fabrics:  Lightweight knits with a moderate one-way stretch (no more than 30%) are recommended. Lightweight woven fabrics with some drape can also be used with Options 1 and 3.

Supplies Needed:
Fabric Requirements:
- Option 1: ½ yd. of 58” wide knit fabric OR 45” wide woven fabric
- Option 2: 1/2 yd. of 58” wide knit fabric
- Option 3: ¼ yd. each for Skirt, Lining, and Bodice for Knits; ½ yd. total for Woven Fabric (if all pieces are cut from the same fabric)
- Option 4: 1/3 yd. of 58” wide knit fabric

All Options:
-Matching thread
-Three medium-sized snaps OR two pieces of thin ¼” wide hook and loop tape , about 3 ½” long
-Optional: A Ball-Point sewing needle (often used with knits)
-¼” wide Stay Tape OR four strips of very lightweight interfacing, cut into lengths measuring ¼” x 13”. (If you can’t find ¼” Stay Tape, you can cut it ½” Stay Tape lengthwise to make it the needed width.) Lightweight ¼” Steam-a-Seam is another possible option.
-One pair of small, very sharp scissor to trim seam allowances.
