Extremely rare 1950's hand painted silk cocktail dress by Betty Higgins of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Shop in Waikiki. Higgins worked exclusively through the glamorous Royal Hawaiian to create island inspired clothing for their elite clientele. This is an exceptional example of her work and is personally hand signed by Higgins herself. Composed of a layer of stormy grey silk organza over a layer of blue taffeta creating a marvelous two tone effect when worn. Beautifully hand painted flowers in glittering gold adorn the skirt and attached shawl that drapes from the bust around the back. The bodice has boning and is lined in cotton. Zips up the back with original metal zipper. A rare piece of midcentury Hawaiian history.
In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
