dress 1930s party Gorgeous 1930s Bias Cut Black Silk Velvet Dress w Incredible 3D Star B – Shrimpton CoutureI am so excited to bring you the second part of our 1930s capsule. This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. Outstanding designs from this era are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time.

I am so excited to bring you the second part of our 1930s capsule. Most are in excellent condition and the few included in the capsule that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.

This is a stunningly beautiful silk velvet dress. It is really just incredible and it is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. This is a dress that is meant to be on an actual body and my dress form is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. The dress is cut in that loose and easy way that pieces from this time period were done in. It is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips and then the skirt falls to the floor from there. When you are standing still the skirt falls in a smooth column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. The upper bodice is incredibly beautiful. The collar is high and the points on each side of it are exaggerated in length and size. The bodice is cut loose and easy. It gathers in slightly to the curved seam that sits just above the natural waist line. A little velvet bow sets at the base of the collar and then between that and the waist seam are two of the most incredible early buttons that I've ever seen. Each is a three dimensional burst to represent a star, or perhaps a snowflake, or even a flower. They are made of individual early frosted acrylic plastic beads that wire into place. The base of each looks to perhaps be an early dress clip that has been sewn into place. They are so pretty. The sleeves are the final perfect touch. Each is cut wider at their tops and then narrow down to the wrist. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. If you are a fan of these pieces from the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition.

Unlined and closes with a series of snaps at the side and with a button that sits above a keyhole at the back of the neck. A snap at each cuff. Hand finished throughout. For a garment 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

Sleeves: 26"
Slightly inset shoulders: 14"
Bust: 16-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12-14" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 14-20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 14" from neck to waist
Skirt: 47" from waist to hem

Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-SML

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
