How Does It Work?

Each Mother Nature bucket contains an amount of organic material, once this reaches a temperature of 22ºC the bacteria present in the material activate and the natural process of fermentation and breakdown will commence, the by-product of this process is the production of CO2! By then further adding oxygen via an air pump, the bacteria are able to ramp up their rate of production and thus increase CO2 levels to a very high amount, perfect for top performance plant growth! 

How To Use Mother Nature CO2 Generators

Mother Nature Carbon Dioxide Generators are very simple to use. Firstly you need to add some hot (not boiling) water to the dry matter in the bucket. Use 1.25L for the 5L bucket and 2.5L for the 10L. Replace the lid and let this sit for 24 hours to activate. Then just connect your air pump to the air line on the bottom inlet of the bucket and then plug the pump into a timer so that it is turns on and off when your lights do. There is no need to supplement your room with CO2 during the lights off phase as your plants are not photosynthesising. Furthermore as the bacteria activates at temperatures above 22ºC very little CO2 is ever wasted during the lights off period as your room will naturally be cooler. We then recommend placing the bucket in your grow space in one of two ways.

Firstly it can be placed on the floor and the outlet pipe placed behind an air movement fan to help distribute the CO2 upwards towards your plants. CO2 is denser than oxygen and will naturally fall when there is little air movement present, this method helps to get it distributed around your room as best as possible. For rooms with little air movement then the second option is to hang the bucket near the canopy of your plants and direct the outlet tube into the centre. As mentioned above the CO2 will naturally fall and therefore be available for uptake by your plants.

Mother Nature CO2 Generators are available in 2 sizes; 5L and 10L. A 5 litre bucket is perfect for a 1.2m x 1.2m area and the 10 litre is ideal for a 2.4m x 1.2m area. Some growers have successfully used the buckets in larger spaces up to 2.4m x 2.4m, but for maximum effect we recommend to follow the above guidelines. Each bucket will last for approx 6 months, after which a refill can be purchased to start again.
